Staying properly hydrated before, during and after exercise is one of the single most important steps you can take to feel healthy and happy when being active during the summer. -TEC Founder, Taylor Thomas
We all know that drinking water is important for our everyday health and that staying hydrated is critical for athletes, but what do we need when the heat is on? Taking Coach Taylor Thomas’s advice from his article Proper Hydration: How to Prepare for Summer Activities, here are the must-haves for the mountain bike trail.
MINI WATER FILTRATION SYSTEM
A great choice for outdoor enthusiasts and emergency preparedness. These systems are affordable, highly versatile, and come ready to go on your next adventure.
Lightweight and fits in the palm of your hand and has a total field weight of just 2 ounces. Providing 0.1-micron absolute filtration for clean drinking water on the go — filtering out bacteria, protozoa, and microplastics.
Attach it to the included drinking pouch, use the included straw to drink directly from your water source, connect it to hydration pack tubing (sold separately), or screw it onto standard disposable bottles (28mm thread).
ELECTROLYTE REPLACEMENT TABLETS
Contains the exact concentration of sodium (30 mmol/L) that has been scientifically proven to produce superior hydration compared to water alone.
They meet your training needs by helping you replace what you lose when you sweat.
An effervescent tablet that readily dissolves in plain water, it’s easy to meet your hydration needs. Simply drop one tablet in your 500 ml water bottle and drink throughout exercise.
HYDRATION PACK
A rugged, recycled ripstop nylon pack with a durable water repellent (DWR) finish is tough enough for days on the trail. The reservoir is positioned at your lumbar to keep your center of gravity low and maintain good balance.
The main compartment includes pockets for tools, tube, and pump, plus a zip mesh pocket with a key fob. Opens at the rear so you can get to your tools—and the front of the pack lays in the dirt rather than your shoulder straps while you work on your bike.
Zip pocket on top for quick access to phone, sunglasses, or food; stretch mesh side pockets for snacks or extra water bottles. Compression straps double as a helmet-carry attachment point.
